E’s song of the day

August 28, 2009

I was at a wedding in Salt Lake City last weekend (hence my absence from the blog) and I enjoyed a fun-filled 4 days with friends in the lovely state of Utah.  No, seriously, I’d forgotten how beautiful SLC really is.  I’m a huge Utah Jazz fan (something I may have mentioned before) so it was doubly nice to go check out the Delta…er…Energy Solutions Arena and see where my boys play (pictures of me kicking it outside the arena should be posted soon).

The wedding was a nice, short and elegant ceremony, and the wedding party marched in to an acoustic duo playing “Heaven is a place on Earth.”  It was a pretty awesome version, and it got me thinking about songs with Heaven in the title.  I’ve got a little 3-pack of tunes today that fit within that category.  Jam one: Belinda Carlisle – Heaven is a place on Earth.  Enjoy….

This next jam I pulled because I’ve been listening to the musical “Rock of Ages” (yes, I like musicals, and this one is damn good) and they do a version of this song.  Classic power ballad from the late 80’s.  Jam two: Warrant – Heaven.  Enjoy….

Lastly, how could I fail to include the classic Bryan Adams’ jam of the same title as the previous track.  Others that almost made the cut today but came up just short include: Eric Clapton – Tears in Heaven, DJ Sammy – Heaven (remixing Bryan Adams), Los Lonely Boys – Heaven, The Cure – Just like Heaven, Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven, Bob Dylan – Knockin’ on Heaven’s door, to name a few…  Jam 3 today: Bryan Adams – Heaven.  Enjoy….
