Karen Cunagin Sypher knows how to barter: Facts of the Trial with Rick Pitino
July 30, 2010
She must be the best barterer (which seems like I am making words up, which I do from time to time) EVAH! Much better than this dude.
Kyle MacDonald had a red paper clip and a dream: Could he use the community power of the Internet to barter that paper clip for something better, and trade that thing for something else — and so on and so on until he had a house?
After a cross-continental trading trek involving a fish-shaped pen, a town named Yahk and the Web’s astonishing ability to bestow celebrity, MacDonald is getting close. He’s up to one year’s free rent on a house in Phoenix.
Not a bad return on an investment of one red paper clip.
Now, a free year of rent is awesome. But, Karen Cunagin Sypher is a lot better. She will use anything at her disposal to get the job done. We warned you last year to KEEP IT IN YOUR PANTS. But, people didn’t listen. Everyone kept getting caught up in drama. The facts are coming out fast and furious. You might wonder why I think that Karen is talented at the art of bartering. First, you got down with Coach Pitino. Whether it was the wine or the neck and chin, he willingly beat up the box hatless. Second, she got money for an abortion.
Tim Sypher, 49, testified that he called clinics in Indiana and Ohio before taking the woman, then known as Karen Wise, to Cincinnati, where she terminated the pregnancy on Aug. 29, 2003. Tim Sypher said he paid for the procedure from $3,000 Pitino gave to Karen Sypher for medical care.
She was able to get medical services out of it. For Karen, this worked two fold. It allowed her some measure of control over Rick Pitino, and it got rid of the evidence at the same time. There was a better than average chance that kid was part of some other persons DNA. But, she will always be able to say that they had a lovechild that he forced her to get rid of. She was like a sleeper cell.
Six days after the meeting at the condo, Tim Sypher drove Karen Sypher to a women’s clinic in Cincinnati, where she had an abortion. Jurors saw records from the clinic on Thursday indicating she was about five weeks pregnant. As Karen Sypher came out of the clinic, Tim Sypher said he extended his hand, prompting “a look I’ll never forget.”
“Sir, I’m not lying to you. We hit it off. It was quick,” Tim Sypher testified. “I’m not lying to you, I’m not lying to anybody here. We clicked.”
Once back in Louisville, Karen Sypher asked if she could see Tim Sypher again. The two began dating and were married less than a year later. Over the next five years, Karen Sypher attended functions around Pitino without problems, Tim Sypher said.
Until the codeword was released. Once that happened, the plan sprung into attack! Pitino started getting calls. The box and/or head game skills were so good, that she managed to get someone else caught up in her plan.
Jurors earlier in the week heard from Lester Goetzinger, a longtime friend and sometime sexual partner of Karen Sypher. Goetzinger said he made the calls after receiving sexual favors from Karen Sypher. He testified as part of a deal with prosecutors.
So sexual favors led him to get involved in a crime? (and by sexual favors, they mean that Goetzinger was getting domed up for making the calls.) You would think that an attorney would see right through that and not get involved…right?
Karen Sypher’s former attorney, Dana Kolter, also testified Friday, telling jurors he and Sypher had sexual relations three times before he wrote a letter to Pitino on March 22, 2009, demanding $10 million and threatening to file a lawsuit accusing Pitino of rape and forced abortion.
I guess not…
