BUSTED! USC hit with two year post season BAN!

June 10, 2010

I think that they are talking about USC here...the fans pay, since the school and the boosters have the loot already.

plus, they have to forfeit money (no biggie) and wins from the last season of Reggie Bush.

E, it doesnt pay to cheat….

NCAA report

USCThe NCAA released a 67-page report detailing its findings in an investigation of the USC athletic program. Read it here. Report.

The NCAA handed the University of Southern California a two-year postseason football ban and vacated wins in Reggie Bush‘s final season, among other penalties, for violations in its football, men’s basketball and women’s tennis programs on Thursday.

The university was put on four years’ probation, while the football program was hit with a two-year postseason ban and the men’s basketball team was banned for one year from the postseason, which had already been self-imposed by the school.

Two years of post season ban will hurt.  It also explains why they were willing to go after Lane Kiffin, who is a great recruiter.  At least that ban will end when it is time to merge with the Big 12 schools.

USC was hit with scholarship reductions in football and basketball and recruiting restrictions for the men’s basketball team. The football team will lose 10 football scholarships annually from 2011-13.

The school was fined $5,000 and forfeits its $206,200 it earned from the 2008 men’s basketball tournament.

In addition the university must vacate a number regular-season and postseason wins in all three involved sports, including the 2005 Orange Bowl, where the Trojans won the BCS national championship by thrashing Oklahoma.

The NCAA said its findings included “a lack of institutional control, impermissible inducements, extra benefits, exceeding coach staff limits, and unethical conduct by an assistant football coach.”

Damn, you are not the national champs anymore!  But, that really doesn’t mean much right now.  If you were there or you are a fan, then you will remember.  This will only hurt 50 years from now when people are looking in the record books.

The violations, which span almost four years, primarily involved “agent and amateurism issues for a former football student-athlete and a former men’s basketball studen-athlete,” the NCAA wrote in its report.

Last year, the NCAA bundled its Bush investigation with its look into the men’s basketball program. USC imposed its own sanctions on the basketball program four months ago over its recruitment of former player O.J. Mayo by former coach Tim Floyd. Floyd was accused of giving cash to a middleman who helped steer Mayo to USC.

In their football investigation, the NCAA and investigators from the Pac-10 Conference tried to determine whether Bush and his parents took improper benefits, including an alleged rent-free residence provided by a sports marketer. Bush has not met with NCAA and Pac-10 investigators and has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.

Don't worry Reggie, they do it at other schools too, like Alabama

“I have a great love for the University of Southern California and I very much regret the turn that this matter has taken, not only for USC, but for the fans and players,” Bush said in a statement.

“I am disappointed by [Thursday’s] decision and disagree with the NCAA’s findings. If the University decides to appeal, I will continue to cooperate with the NCAA and USC, as I did during the investigation. In the meantime, I will continue to focus on making a positive impact for the University and for the community where I live,” Bush said.

But, it looks like USC had problems in other programs too.  Which is not a total shock if you are trying to win.  Doing things the right way is hard, cheating is easy.  But, winning is paramount.  I kinda wish my school would cheat ( Oh yeah, we did and got caught with Todd Bozeman.  They should read this book..)

How not to get caught!

The women’s tennis violation involved a former student athlete using an athletics department long-distance access call to make 123 unauthorized calls to her family. The total value of the calls was more than $7,000, the NCAA said.

The football team must vacate all wins in which Bush played while ineligible, starting in December 2004. The NCAA accepted USC’s self-imposed penalty of vacating all wins in which Mayo competed during the 2007-08 season.

Floyd and football coach Pete Carroll are no longer employed by USC. Floyd is at the University of Texas-El Paso; Carroll is the head coach of the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.

The women’s tennis program must vacate all wins in which the ineligible player competed between November 2006 and May 2009 — a penalty which was self-imposed by USC.

USC already admitted wrongdoing with the basketball program and sanctioned itself, including a ban on postseason participation, a reduction of scholarships and vacating all of its wins from 2007-08.

USC chose to contest the allegation against the football program.

Information from The Associated Press is included in this report.

Why contest football, but not basketball?  The Rodney Guillory connection was tenuous and you might have beaten that one.  The Reggie Bush one was harder.  If they had only paid back the money to the agent, then the NCAA would have nothing.  But, you got greedy and he spilled the beans.  Its hard to have a stop snitching campaign when the wrong was committed against you.

Carroll bails and so too does Floyd . And USC gets left with the poop on their hands . How fitting ! Mike Garrett the AD is a damn ass and he should step down ! He’s been a piss poor specimen as a human being and AD for the school. He’s let their reputation be tarnished by this mess. But then again the NCAA is no shrinking violet itself !

define cheat. Did the University give anyone money? no. Did we supply steroids to our players? no. We get burned because the douchebags from New Era wanted Reggie to be a client. This notion of institutional control is a fucking farce. Will we STILL beat UCLA and Cal next year? yes.

Or perhaps I should take the Ronin approach…is it basketball season yet? UCLA got a couple of decent white boys but they have to sit for a year, so I like our chances in 2010-2011 hoops.

Haters wanna hate, lovers wanna love, I don’t really want, none of the above I want to piss on you…

So Floyd merely gave money to Mayo for a job well done or was that as a gift for having sex with Mayo’s momma ?

There has to be a reason for the NCAA imposing these sanctions . But then again the NCAA are a bunch of eunuchs to begin with ! It’s all about perception and image with them. They’re the most corrupt corporation in the country passing itself as a meaningful organization. I’d be more trustful of the pimp on the corner than anyone within the NCAA !

Floyd admitted to the fact that he’d given Mayo money but at the time he stated that he wasn’t aware that he’d broken any rules. Is that what you call integrity within the school ? The guy is an a-hole !

let’s not act like Reggie didn’t have a choice. HE TOOK THE MONEY. AND COACHES KNEW ABOUT IT AND LIED. Reggie is a douchebag for taking it.

Will you beat either UCLA or CAL? Who knows. You have Lane not Pete.

If it was basketball season, it would be worse for you since your team sucks. Remember, we saw USC suck it up against CAL last year.

BTW, your hoop recruiting sucks. You will get beat down by UCLA, without the Wear twins. Your best player is not eligible yet. In this debate, you are getting R. Kelly’ed…

Funny once the other shoe drops then common sense will weigh in with the USC fan.

It’s alright for them just as long as they’re not the ones with their hands in the cookie jar . I guess that they’d rather hold unto their “Johnson” instead ?

UCLA just got its record leading 106th National championship. Thanx Girls Softball. And our Baseball team is in the College World Series. USC was/is in neither. Now USC doesn’t have football. You got nothing!
    HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW Josh Smith and Tyler Lamb are Black not White and they will play next year as we go for another National Championship.
    You just got Pissed on!!!!!!

    • Erik said

And USC just won national titles in Men’s Tennis (yes, we have more men’s titles than your band of little girls) and women’s water polo. Our baseball team has 12 CWS titles, how many does your’s have? (oh, and last time I checked the super-regional is NOT the college world series…let’s not count our chicks before they hatch). Our football team still exists, just playing the role of spoiler for a few years.

and BTW, I wasn’t talking about Smith or Lamb, which of course you should know (or, if you don’t know it means you know far less about your program than you front).

I’m piss free and you’re nothing but a fucking hater.

and when did you start typing like Aziz’s cousin Harris? 50 a’s and, like, a hundred exclamation points…really? Did I miss out on you turning into a 14 year-old girl?

      • Steve said

Damn, Erik, I didn’t know you were so sensitive. In other news, you should be able to get tickets REAAALLL easy now…

      • Ronin Storm said

Sure we trail you in Tennis Titles but only by 2. But we have Arthur Ashe and Jimmy Connors as Alumni. And yes Baseball has been good to USC but not this year. USC isn’t even ranked. And we have Jackie Robinson as an Alumni and you have Mr. steroids. Basketball 11 to zero. And we still own you in Mens Volleyball 19 to 4 and Soccer 13 to 3 for men and our women have never lost to the women of Troy. As your info s wrong! Not even close to the truth! For Water polo eight to 4 for men and our women we have won 7 of nine (five straight) total titles given. Gymnasts Men 2 to 1 and women 6 to Zero. Softball 11 to zero.
Basically UCLA produces Champions and USC produces cheats so you should let it go.
BTW you look a little yellow and wet.!!!

Tim Floyd CHEATED, as in provided extra benefits to players. You had a dirty coach in Todd McNair that lied to the NCAA and knew of violations. So, yes Erik, they cheated.

Here is the findings you need to read and comprehend…

The report indicates that Bush and Mayo were able to engage in rule-breaking at least in part because of USC’s negligence, which included lack of staffing in the area of compliance, lax regulation on the sidelines and in the locker room, and, in at least one instance, a rebuke of running backs coach Todd McNair, who the NCAA cited for lying during the investigation.

Said the report, “[McNair] knew or should have known that [Bush] and [New Era Sports marketing agents] were engaged in violations that negatively affected [Bush’s] amateurism status. The assistant football coach provided false and misleading information to the enforcement staff concerning his knowledge of [the marketing agents’] activity and also violated NCAA legislation by signing a document certifying that he had no knowledge of NCAA violations.”

So that would make them cheats AND liars.

Plus, let’t not leave out your dirty tennis player. So, enjoy the fruits of cheating. Your vacated title, VY punking you the following year, Bush getting stripped of the Heisman and OJ Simpson still serving time.

Oh yeah, and Matt Leinart in the hot tub with high school chicks. That is certainly the program of winners.

Jeez, where to begin? AP: I agree with you that both Tim Floyd and the NCAA are a bunch of ass-clowns. Attacking Mike Garrett is a bit unfounded though. Black AD’s!! Others: Nobody has a SINGLE argument why ANY of that nonsense makes us CHEATERS (again, something nobody seems willing to define). I guess I’ll repeat myself since it seems that you are all incapable of reading. No loot from USC to players, no steroids, not a single thing gave our players an unfair advantage over others on the field and not a single football player was paid to come to SC. The appeal process will show that the NCAA, like you two, have some ridiculous vendetta against USC for being too dominant (I get it, you wish you went there like I did). I’m certain that if the NCAA took a 4 year look into any other major college sports program, they would find equal dubious evidence of wrong-doing. Sure, Reggie is a fucking idiot for taking loot from New Era. Sure, I’ll even spot you that Tim Floyd was a dirty asshole and helped get OJ loot. I’ll certainly spot you that we let some tennis chick make long distance phone calls on our dime (oh no!) but as I’ve stated previously: I could give two shits about women’s sports (although Ronin, the notion that UCLA women have never lost to the women of Troy in soccer reflects a continued ignorance on your part of all things Southern California sports related – USC defeated UCLA in 2007 en route to the national championship). My info on more relevant shit is completely accurate: USC has THE MOST MEN’S TITLES IN DIVISION ONE. that is undeniable. Quit throwing rocks at the throne and actually win some Men’s championships.

Get off that holier than thou horse of yours. Garrett is culpable in all of this by not complying with the letter of the law as it relates to rules of the NCAA . You’re trying to suggest that he had no idea as to what was going on all this time ? That’s like saying Reagan was unaware as to what Oliver North was doing during the “Iran Contra” scandal .

What all of a sudden he’s got selective memory ? If that’s not the case then why would he want and suggest self imposed sanctions on his program when much of this first came to light ? You simply don’t gloss over the facts just to make a case for your argument . Or is that how things are actually done at USC ?

Cheating as it relates to this isn’t just about what happens on the field but also off it. Or hadn’t that occurred to you to begin with ?

If you’re man enough read the following and then let me know what you think as to the merits of the piece ? You seem to be crying foul just because your beloved Trojans got caught with their hands in the cookie jar. What you don’t believe anyone should be held accountable ?
