E’s song of the day

March 23, 2010

I’m back in town after a long, fun-filled trip to New Orleans to participate in the wedding of two close friends from college.  I reconnected with some old friends and made some great new ones.  The wedding was short and sweet (really ideal; who likes long ceremonies?) and the reception filled with good food, drink, laughter and dancing.  It was also my first time in the Big Easy so I had the pleasure of experiencing Bourbon St. and the French Quarter for the first time.  On Saturday evening, we went to a little spot on Frenchman St. called DBA which featured some great live music.  The band performed for a few hours starting at 11pm and they were rocking.  I was fortunate to get right up to the front of the stage for good chunks of the show.  Unfortunately, none of the videos I found online can really express the intense musical experience of seeing this dude perform live, but the one I’ve found is pretty good.  However, you should also be aware that Big Chief’s costume more reflected the picture above rather than the casual attire in the video.  Today’s jam: Big Chief Monk Boudreaux.  Enjoy….
