Rap Group to look for in 2010: Slaughterhouse

Rap Groups bringing back the heavy hitters with the club bangers

Joell Ortiz and Royce the 5’9″ are some of the rappers that I have been backing for awhile now, both for their distinctive sound and the clever lines that they have.  Listening to the CD, I “I want me a sloppy ho whose pussy smells like tilapia call me sloppy joe…” line from Joe Budden killed me…

Slaughterhouse is a hip hop supergroup consisting of rappers Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce da 5’9″. The group formed in late 2008 after Crooked I, Joell Ortiz and Royce da 5’9″ appeared on the song “Slaughterhouse” from Joe Budden’s album Halfway House. They took their name from the song. The group released their full-length debut album August 11, 2009 on E1 Music. Coinciding with the album release the members have or are planning to release solo material to generate buzz for themselves and the group.[1] This will include a late summer tour as well as a spot on the annual “Rock the Bells” tour.[2] The group is notable for the lyrical abilities of all four members and their large internet following.[3] Their debut album sold 18,000 copies in its first week.[4] As of September 5, 2009 the album has sold 31,000 copies.[5] It was confirmed by Royce Da 5’9″ in an interview with MTV News in late September 2009 that Slaughterhouse was in talks to sign with Eminem‘s label, Shady Records[6]

Erik styles himself as the only music dude here, but Ronin and I are children of the beginning of hip hop. Over the next few days, we are going to reminisce to things you still should be listening to and things to look out for in 2010
