Steve and I were chatting last night, and I was shocked to hear about the untimely death of Slum Village member Baatin.  According to Examiner.com:

Slum Village’s original members (Baatin right)

Titus “Baatin” Glover, a member of Slum Village, was found dead in Detroit Saturday morning. Although there is speculation on the cause of death, there is no conformation as of yet. The police are not treating the investigation as a homicide, since there are no signs of foul play.

The 35 year old was one of Slum Village’s co-founders, along with late producer J-Dilla who died of Lupus in 2006, and current member T3. Baatin had recently re-joined the group’s ever-changing line-up after an extended absence. Slum Village was set to drop a new album “Villa Manifesto” in September and the remaining member’s are still scheduled to perform at the Rock the Bells tour at Shoreline this coming Sunday in Mountain View.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Baatin had been diagnosed as a schizophrenic, which led him to leave the group in 2002. Rapper Elizhi stepped in for him while he sought treatment.

Baatin leaves a nine-year-old son and one-year-old daughter behind.

As such, I’ve obviously decided to drop a Slum Village track for you today.  If the fucking keyboard on my work computer wasn’t totally busted, this little post wouldnt take me a fucking hour, but oh well.  You’d figure Best Buy might have funtioning electronics for employees, but I guess not.  Today’s jam: SlumVillage  ft.Kanye West and John Legend – Selfish.  Enjoy…

this was my joint and still is… the smoothness of this beat and the flow is a joint you can rock out to yourself or not have to change it if you are with your girl….
