Be Careful What you wish for… Massachusetts Gay Couple Divorcing

February 7, 2009

Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for, because when you get it and its not cracked up to be what you think, then you are stuck without the ability to complain.  I remember complaining about not having enough work and now I have far too many things on my plate.

The fight for gay marriage here in California was hotly contested with Prop 8.  With the battle being waged in other states, I found this entirely funny.  well, maybe not funny, but deliciously ironic.  One of the things that I have been preaching about recently is that their is no rush to get married. Enjoy the person and their company, but get married only if there is some unique benefit to being married.  The codification of your relationship by the state does not make it any stronger.  It just means that you have included the state into your affairs.

Marriage is not a word. It is a sentence–a life sentence.

Marriage is very much like a violin; after the sweet music is over, the strings are attached.

These statements are things that I tell people who are about to get married.  It should be a life sentence and when the music stops, you can officially start crying…

Let my people go!... I mean get me the hell outta this relationship!

BOSTON (AP) – A lesbian couple who led the fight for gay marriage in Massachusetts has filed for divorce. Julie and Hillary Goodridge were among seven gay couples who filed a lawsuit that led to a court ruling making Massachusetts the first state to legalize same-sex marriages in 2004. The couple became the public face of the debate in the state and married the first day same-sex marriages became legal.

Free at last, free at last, thank god almighty free at last!

Free at last, free at last, thank god almighty free at last!

The divorce case was filed last week in Suffolk Probate and Family Court and was not unexpected. The couple announced they were separating in 2006.

Messages left for the Goodridges were not immediately returned Tuesday.

Marriage is an institution in which a man loses his Bachelor’s Degree and the woman gets her Masters.

feel free to make this statement politically correct for the times…

As long as I get away from that crazy....
