My grandfather would always say “every ball game you will see something you have never seen before”. I challenged this theory at every chance and after watching 1000’s of games during my life Papa has never come up short.

Once again his wisdom was proven at last night’s A’s game when I was able to spend an evening at the ballpark with a new friend and FMA. The A’s won a 7-5 powerfest against Rangers. Oakland hit 4 home runs including Adam Kennedy’s game winning 2 -runner in the 6th. Although the win and the rare power were great to see I was initially fired-up to watch pitcher Chad Reineke make his A’s debut after being called up from Sacramento earlier in the week. Chad filled in for Dallas Braden who is nursing a swollen left ankle which developed from a rash caused by a Neoprene guard used to protect his big toe when pitching ( or we could just say he caught a VD over the weekend ).

I dig watching guys pitch for their life and careers. There is something raw and pure about a guy getting his one shot and going for it with no regrets. this is especially true after watching friends from college get their shot in the Bigs. Some successful some not but all exciting if you know what to look for.

“I got my debut out of the way last year, so I wasn’t that nervous,” Reineke said. “I was a little anxious, but the worst was the two hours leading up to the game.”

Chad might not have been playing his best but the teenage girl on the ramp to the Bart station was at the top of her game when some little boy let his mouth run a little too much. Full of sound and fury the girl turned around and shouted “my mama would call you a sucker a-s pus-y”. In which I almost hurt myself laughing so hard. Unfortunately, not a candidate for a good game of  ”Guess The Race” but funny non the less.

I say Chad did well while allowing four runs on seven hits and no walks in five innings. The key is ZERO walks. We will have to see what the clubhouse thinks.

But lets move on. The real fun began in the 8th when not one but two fans ran onto the field. I think they were just happy that the A’s looked as though they were gonna win their 3rd straight and just could contain themselves. Either way I couldn’t stop laughing. Like the timing of a perfectly tuned race car engine as soon as the the first guy was apprehended by security the second guy began his streak. This one was by far the most enjoyable as the security was already tuckered by the first guy and proceeded to just give up midway. This prompted guy #2 to just take his sweet time until the Blarts got their wind back and renewed their chase. Although I wasn’t Johnny on the spot with the camera I was able to snap a few. BTW, I know they are the best but certainly better than Fred Flintstone’s Moby Dick thumb pics. So don’t cap.

OK this one is like the FF thumb pic but the dude looked just like our boy Loof

OK this one is like the FF thumb pic but I swear this dude looked just like our boy Loof

Dude #2 makes his break

Blarts sucking wind.

This guy was JOTS and picked up Dude #2. and posted on You Tube.

On a sad note…although these two knuckleheads deserved to be thrown out we watched 3 other A’s fans get kicked out for what seemed to be common heckling. Including the Jerk sitting next to us that everyone cheered when the Po-po showed up. I am always on my best behavior at A’s games or any sporting event. That is providing only intelligent, funny, or sarcastic comments keeping it PG for the entire family.  I can’t say I’m in favor of kicking a guy out b/c of language or gestures. That seems a little un-American.

Also seems to be a trend…

This guy got tasered on Mon. for rubbing his nose at cops. What happened to Cops with SKILS??? Cops that could gently end situations without violence. If all they have to do is pull out the taser then what’s all the training for? I could teach “how to use a taser” in 5min.

Two A’s games in less than 24 hours: a real treat for your boy E before the harsh reality of work sets in later tonight.  Of course, I haven’t forgot about getting you going on this sunny Wednesday afternoon with a little tuneage.  Today’s jam has been on my list for a LONG TIME, and I figure it’s about time to clear out some of this stuff at the top.  This is borderline hipster music, but I gotta keep up my commitment to diversity so those of you who object can just deal for a day.  This is a beautiful song and I think most of you should really like it.  Today’s jam: Bright Eyes – Landlocked Blues.  Enjoy….

I have the day off after working for 10 hours yesterday and I’m gearing up to go to the A’s game tonight, so I may be brief here.  this one has been on my list for a while.  I threw it on there after hearing it on one of my DJ Neil Armstrong mixes (yes, I rep the shit out of this dude) and remembering when it first hit the radio waves.  Another one for the ladies out there.  Today’s jam: Wayne Wonder – No Letting Go.  Enjoy….

E’s song of the day

You cant really say Lets Go Oakland better than this

You can't really say "Let's Go Oakland" better than this

Oh Jeebus, where did the time go?  I can’t believe I’ve missed two days in a row; the job must really be grinding me hard.  I only got about 3.5 hours of sleep last night, and I’ve already put in my 8 hours for today so I may come off a bit incoherent, and I apologize.  I’m gearing up for another A’s-Giants series, this time on my side of the bay, beginning tonight.  All you bay area baseball fans, get out to the coliseum and show your support!  Since I’ve been bad about posting, you’ll be getting a 3-song extravaganza today.  The first is from one of my all-time favorite hip-hop crews, hailing from the Oakland area.  I love a tone of their work, so this was a very dificult choice, but I decided on this smooth little track featuring super-hot R&B songstress Goapele.  Jam one: hieroglyphics ft. Goapele – Make Your Move.  Enjoy….

This second track is one I’ve had sitting on my list for quite some time.  It’s one of those classic early 90’s jams that drifted into semi-obscurity (at least, I don’t seem to hear it on the radio anymore) but deserves a comeback.  I’ve always thought somebody should try to sing it on American Idol because it has that message of positivity through love that is easy to get behind.  Jam two – Blessid Union of Souls – I Believe.  Enjoy….

Ahhhh, that song always leaves me feeling a bit better.  Now, to finish the day off with some new funk that I’m actively pushing to everyone I know.  I was listening to a talk radio show on KMEL (a local hip hop station) and a woman was big-upping this dude.  I decided to check him out and, after a couple runs through his two albums, I must say I’m really feeling his music.  Born and raised in the violent streets of Mogadishu, he brings a unique style and perspective to the hip-hop game.  Last jam: K’Naan – Smile.  Enjoy….

E’s song of the day

June 9, 2009

Another day off for your boy E, and Steve is off for the summer so we’re chilling at the spot doin’ what we do.  I went to the A’s game last night and saw our boys in green collect their 7th consecutive victory in front of a record crowd of about 0000 (seriously, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen the park THAT empty).  I’ll be back out there tonight to watch my man, rookie pitcher, Brett Anderson help the Athletics go for 8 in a row.  Until then I’ll still be kicking it old school (all week, in fact) for all you readers out there.  This song has randomly played through my car stereo twice in the last two days, which quickly earned it a spot near the top of my “song of the day queue.”  A classic old school R&B hit (don’t worry haters, we’ll mix in some different genres this week, but R&B is my ish) from 1975.  Today’s jam: Rufus and Chaka Khan – Sweet Thing.  enjoy…

Because I’m feeling so generous today, I’ve also decided to hit you off with the popular Mar J. Blige cover of the above.  It almost falls into that “classic for your boy E” category.  You decide for yourself which you prefer.

It’s another quasi-day off for your boy E.  I don’t work until 10pm, so I’ll be going to see my beloved Oakland A’s get it done against my brother’s fave team – the Blue Jays.  It is uniquely special, because today is Justin Duchscherer bobblehead day so I’ll be rolling over there soon to make sure I get the hook-up.  I figured, however, that I’d hit you off with a hot jam before I leave.  I’ve been meaning to drop this one on you for some time now.  This jam is one of my favorite songs to start my day off right (and has been for about a year now).  Yes, it is questionably hipster music, although even most hipsters i know aren’t familiar with these dudes, so perhaps it is just some obscure Canadian folk/rock.  Either way, it’s my jam.  Today’s song: Great Lake Swimmers – Your Rocky Spine.  Enjoy….

E’s song of the day

April 10, 2009

It’s opening day in Oakland for my beloved Athletics, and you know your boy E is going to see some primo baseball played.  I just dropped my eye steroids in, so I’ll be juiced up and ready to see come 7:05 when this bad boy starts.  In the meantime, I’d better deliver on a choice song to get your day going.  I was in a Long’ s drugstore the other day and this classic Hall and Oates song came on.  Obviously, I am a HUGE H&O fan, so I had to quietly sing along under my breath, then promptly make a note to myself that I needed to drop some of their goodies on you.  Ladies and gentlemen: Sir Hall nad Sir Oates (I think they’re knighted.  I’d bet, even money that they’re knighted) with “You Make My Dreams Come True.”  Enjoy…

Listening to this song also reminds me of one of the Saturday Night Live special Thursday editions before the most recent Presidential election.  Will Forte and Fred Armisen do their best Hall and Oates, and it rocks.  I couldn’t find a very quality video that would easily post on this site and/or my tech skills are fairly poor, so I couldn’t figure out how to post the higher quality versions I’d found, so please click the link below and enjoy.  Great stuff…
