I don’t know what to say after watching Raph Nader on the election of Barack Obama

Even if he believes in keeping it real, that is how you catch a beat down old man, talking slick and sideways about someone like that.  I respected your maverick ways and your keeping the beacon for third party politics, but now you are not relevant and you went out with a whimper…

Forget Country First, I need my diaper changed and a little blue pill

Forget Country First, I need my diaper changed and a little blue pill

Well, well, well… you have been on the wrong side of history yet again. Why did you attach your hopes and dreams to a loser? A serial loser at that, who if we are to believe you now, was hated by his own party?

What delirium effected you when you thought that McCain/Palin could win? Almost 6 million people at this point and time (AND YES, NOT ALL THE VOTES HAVE BEEN COUNTED, so it could be bigger) totally disagree with you. Now, we know is that almost 8 million people agree that Barack Obama was the better choice.

Simply put, this was an issue of black and white. Not along the color barrier, but of choice. Regardless of who you supported at the primary level, barring some legal challenge that never materialized, you are left with two main party choices, and a few third party choices. The real option was choosing between Barack Obama and John McCain. You chose the war hero that finished at the bottom of his naval class, versus the guy who was among the top of his law school class. This isn’t the case of Bush getting in legacy style and have a sub 2.0 gpa, but someone of substance, who lectured and was editor of the Law Review. But, you still questioned his intelligence. I went to the Confluence to see what they had to say about the election. Riverdaughter was measured with her comments and wrote an optimistic piece for her constituency. If it was up to them, she would have been stoned, or lit on fire. Some people were so mad, they were talking about staying away from the site.

To them, I say, take a deep breath and relax. You should have known that this day was coming. What about the polls did you not believe? I am impressed by some of the dedication of the followers (And if you really thing that the Obama campaign are just blind followers, then look internally to the PUMAS, who are willing to follow a women, regardless of her qualifications, or lack thereof)

Now before you think that I am anti-women, I love women, to quote Redman when he noticed he was failing womens studies in How High. My point until I got the boot (They are big on censorship, so no one is able to penetrate their balloon of naivety on the subject matter) First, Hillary lost. I know that is upsetting to you when your candidate is out of the race. This is not an indictment of all women, just that Hillary wasn’t the right one. She jumped on the winning team and campaigned for the choice she thought was best. When faced with TWO choices, she clearly chose the lesser of two evils.

Here is where I am willing to get labeled a sexist, when I criticize the selection of Sarah Palin. The Confluence loves her to death and blame Obama for all the negative attacks on her. One astute reader pointed out, “What if I THINK that she is not that smart, why does that make me a sexist?” They love to tear down Barack and not call him smart, but they gloss over Princeton, Harvard Law School with the editor of the Law Review. That is also to ignore the issue of being a lecturer at University of Chicago. I wont rehash what they censored at the Confluence, but do a comparison of Obama and McCain/Palin and its a crush. McCain gets a clear pass, as he was serving the country. But the Confluence has labeled Palin as smarter than Obama. The only thing to say about that is… c’mon now, REALLY?

Lets go to wikipedia and she what they have to say

In 1982, she enrolled at Hawaii Pacific College but left after her first semester. She transferred to North Idaho community college, where she spent two semesters as a general studies major. From there, she transferred to the University of Idaho for two semesters.[11][12] During this time Palin won the Miss Wasilla Pageant,[13][14] then finished third in the 1984 Miss Alaska pageant,[15][16] at which she won a college scholarship and the “Miss Congeniality” award.[8] Afterwards, Palin attended the Matanuska-Susitna community college in Alaska for one term. The next year she returned to the University of Idaho where she spent three semesters completing her Bachelor of Science degree in communications-journalism, graduating in 1987.[11][12]

Now, I don’t think that you have to go to an IVY to get a good education, but you are really challenging who is more intelligent? Palin can never win the Presidency since she doesnt have the right connections anymore. In twenty years are you still going to be on the wrong side of History? IF/When things go well for the country, will you still be consumed by your hatred of President (get used to the title) Barack Obama? Chose a woman that can actually win and has some qualifications. Palin was not it, and will never be. She doesn’t have the right connections to make it work.

cant wait to see what media controls when we start writing the history books to inculcate Americas youth. If President O is so powerful, what makes you think that the PUMAS (Looks like we had enough party unity without you) can bring him down?

we are talking to you hispanics, blacks, native americans, chinese, asian and other non-european

we are talking to you Hispanics, blacks, native Americans, Chinese, asian and other non-European

Cassidy Spencer is the new poster child for what is wrong with people when they attempt to do something funny, but they really are being racist or sexist. The crew over at Too Old cant be all about the Benjamin’s (editors note…yes we can and are…) so we find other ways to enjoy life and kill time. Our friend Jason (the hipster) took his girlfriend out to dinner to celebrate her birthday. One of the many dishes that they had contained a reduction or the juice of the makrud lime, which some people insist on calling the Kaffir lime. The restuarant that they went to called it that.

Now, the connotation has a racist implication. Now, upon calling the restaurant, they admitted ignorance on the subject, which now makes me wonder about the quality of the food, since not knowing your history (Iraq 92 anyone?) will cause you to repeat it (Iraq 93 til infinity? Hip hop heads know what I am talking about, for the rest of you, do your due diligence and find out about Souls of Mischief and the sounds of the Bay) Here is what wikipedia had to say on the subject.

The Oxford Companion to Food (ISBN 0-19-211579-0) recommends that the name kaffir lime should be avoided in favor of makrud lime because kaffir is an offensive term in some cultures, and also has no clear reason for being attached to this plant. (For this reason, some South Africans refer to the fruit as K-lime.) However, kaffir lime appears to be much more common.

Here is the back story on the racism

In the heart of South Africa, during Apartheid, the term was used to refer to black people, and is still regarded as highly offensive (in a similar way to the word “nigger“). Use of the word has been actionable in a South African court since at least 1976 (Ciliza -v- Minister of Police and Another 1976 (4) SA 243) under the offence of crimen injuria: “the unlawful, intentional and serious violation of the dignity of another” (W.A. Joubert, 1981; The Law of South Africa, VI, p251-254).

There are a couple of examples where the media used this term to portray (or allow subtle) racism to occur

This word is actionable in the courts of South Africa, just as if you called an American Black any of the following terms; Sambo, Coon, Spade, jigaboo, pickaninny or the whole other litany of derogatory names. Most people wouldn’t say those terms in public, they would just say them around their other racist friends and then they would laugh about it together.
This is where the application that Google has put out would really come in handy for our heroine of the moment, Cassidy Spencer. Google has made an application called Mail Goggles that prevent you from sending emails when you are not in your right mind. It is obviously a take on beer goggles, where your perception of things can be skewed with alcohol. You can set it to the time of the day when you are most vulerable. It will ask you a series of math problems that if you cant solve, themn you cant send the email. More info on Mail Goggles can be found here.

So, why would I randomly pick out Cassidy Spencer and who is she? I have no idea who she might be, (she could be a great person if you are racist to hang out with) but she is a racist and not a good defeinder of her motives. In late August, we here at Too Old were blogging about the Presidential Race, and one of the links that wordpress crosslisted was a comment/post that she made about Barack Obama and Joe Biden. In fairness, I will post the entire section

OBAMA Bin Biden?

Is anyone else a little freaked out at how similar Obama and his new running mate, Biden, together create a name representing the most sought after and despised terrorist of the United States of America?

OBAMA BIDEN = OSAMA BIN LADEN

I mean, seriously. Put their faces together and add a little facial hair…and they even kinda look like him!

+ =

Disclaimer: This is all in fun. I wouldn’t stoop to superstition when it comes to voting for our next president. I have better reasons for not supporting the Obama/Biden ticket. Thank you and happy voting!

Wow, that is scary! Just one more reason NOT to vote for him. He creeps me out.

Reading this, I can only conclude that she is a racist. I know if you read the comments section, you will see that she said, I am only kidding…

Well, I don’t believe you and to make matters worse, EVEN IF I ASSUME that you are kidding, there are other dumbasses that believe what you wrote, even with the disclaimer… (wink, wink) This is perfectly analogous if I said, boy, if you color Cassidys hair a little bit, she looks like Joe Fritzls’ daughter, you know the one the he made birth all of his other children and kept her locked in a basement. I bet Joe Ftizl beat the brakes off the box and produced a bunch of living trophies of his work. Scary thought about how Cassidy, I mean Elizabeth must of turned out…

this is Joe F. for those of you not in the know

Racist messages and racism that are subtle, like you Cassidy, always make the convenient excuse, I was just joking around, you shouldn’t get your feelings hurt. What you fail to mention or know is that words hurt. The have actual damage. You can even see one comment that shows ignorance. Even if that one comment is one of your 12 readers (re:family members from the primordial ooze) of your blog (you certainly don’t do the numbers that we do here…) then the simple fact that we came across it, means someone else did as well.

Instead of being a racist, how about you list the real reasons that you are not voting for the Obama/Biden ticket…and race doesn’t count (since we know that is really number one) Frankly, I am shocked that you didnt do what others have done, which is to constantly use his middle name of Hussein. I wonder if its that you were not smart enough to think of it, or couldn’t steal ( I mean reappropriate) this thought. Ever wonder why we know that Barack’s middle name is Hussein and we dont know what John or Sarah’s middle names are?

John Sidney McCain

Sarah Louise Heath Palin

We know Barack and it keeps getting repeated like in the last post because of…

wait for it….

Cassidy, why did you call me a sand ni@@$r? Oh, its okay...you were JOKING! HAHAHAHA

Cassidy, why did you call me a sand ni@@$r? Oh, its okay...you were JOKING! HAHAHAHA

You you say and what you want are clearly two different things…Fortunately for you, other racists feel this way too…

The coat is hot! Too bad that is isnt his brother Barack

The coat is hot! Too bad that is isn't his brother Barack!

Can I get a lift to the polling place?

Can I get a lift to the polling place?

Oh yeah, since this seems to work so well, I am required to say it…

Disclaimer: This is all in fun. I wouldn’t stoop to ignorance when it comes to voting for our next president. I have better reasons for not supporting the McCain/Palin ticket, like he would give tax breaks to millionaires, he was one of the Keating Five, who caused a 3 billion dollar bail out of Lincoln Financial, he is old as dirt and was the chariot parker at the last supper, and he is running with a woman who has little political experience besides being able to see Russia from her porch.

Thank you and happy voting!

I think that I found the relics of the George Wallace campaign down here!

I think that I found the relics of the George Wallace campaign down here!

Its funny what you are willing to do when you see what you want slipping away from your grasp. This is the understanding that I have been given from a student when I caught them cheating on a test. I felt bad for them, but I understood exactly what they meant when they told me that. It didnt change that i gave them a zero on the exam, but it was clearly some food for thought.

Doing my morning reading (since I was out of the country this week, well not really, but sorta, since where I was didn’t have internet access that was reliable or cell phone service) I came across the John Lewis comments about the way that the McCain Palin campaign has been run. At this point, short of a miracle, McCain/Palin are going to lose and it hopefully will not be close. But, I think that we can look at this as an example of what not to do.

John Lewis Condemns GOP Campaign Tactics

By Shailagh Murray
Rep. John Lewis of Georgia, a Civil Rights-era leader, condemned GOP campaign tactics as “sowing the seeds of hatred and division,” drawing an immediate and angry response from Sen. John McCain.

Although McCain and his Republican running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, have toned down their rhetoric against Sen. Barack Obama in the past day, Lewis warned of “another destructive period in American history” if the negative attacks from both the candidates and their surrogates don’t cease.

“As one who was a victim of violence and hate during the height of the Civil Rights Movement, I am deeply disturbed by the negative tone of the McCain-Palin campaign,” Lewis said in a statement. “Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin are sowing the seeds of hatred and division, and there is no need for this hostility in our political discourse.”

The veteran Democrat even invoked one of the most divisive figures in recent U.S. history. “During another period, in the not too distant past, there was a governor of the state of Alabama named George Wallace who also became a presidential candidate. George Wallace never threw a bomb. He never fired a gun, but he created the climate and the conditions that encouraged vicious attacks against innocent Americans who were simply trying to exercise their constitutional rights. Because of this atmosphere of hate, four little girls were killed on Sunday morning when a church was bombed in Birmingham, Alabama,” said Lewis.

He warned, “As public figures with the power to influence and persuade, Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin are playing with fire, and if they are not careful, that fire will consume us all. They are playing a very dangerous game that disregards the value of the political process and cheapens our entire democracy. We can do better. The American people deserve better.”

McCain hit back hard with this statement: “Congressman John Lewis’ comments represent a character attack against Governor Sarah Palin and me that is shocking and beyond the pale. The notion that legitimate criticism of Senator Obama’s record and positions could be compared to Governor George Wallace, his segregationist policies and the violence he provoked is unacceptable and has no place in this campaign. I am saddened that John Lewis, a man I’ve always admired, would make such a brazen and baseless attack on my character and the character of the thousands of hardworking Americans who come to our events to cheer for the kind of reform that will put America on the right track.

“I call on Senator Obama to immediately and personally repudiate these outrageous and divisive comments that are so clearly designed to shut down debate 24 days before the election. Our country must return to the important debate about the path forward for America.”

Now, I usually do not give the space to a comment during the posting of a story, but this is actually the reason that this post was born… Here is the entire comment

Women of America Unite!
Unite against the sexist media and Barack Hussein’s Mugging of Vice President, Sarah Palin!

Women must unite against the liberal media vicious, sexist, cruel, demeaning, contemptuous UN-AMERICAN, unfair, unprofessional, unrelenting and blatantly biased treatment against Vice President Sarah Palin and acting blatantly in favor of Barack Hussein Obama during this unprecedented historic quest for the presidency!

Barack Hussein Obama claims a mightier throne, one forged in liberal ideals of justice and equality and hope, BUT he has benefited mightily from sexism in this campaign, and has remained silent. Obama supporters seem very happy with the sexist way pundits and some news organizations treat any action or statement by Sarah Palin, and many believe that most of the “venom” in the campaign is coming from supporters of Obama.

Women of America Unite in this defining moment in American history. To ensure we can grow up from the male dominated government that has caused many of the problems our country is facing; to a country where men and women are equal partners in governance.

Women of America Unite
Unite against the sexist media and Barack Hussein’s Mugging of Vice President, Sarah Palin!
VOTE for McCain/Palin

You can vote for who you want. We all have hot button issues that will lead us to vote one way or another. I can understand that some women are still heated that their candidate lost in the primaries to Barack Obama. Hillary has gotten over it, why haven’t others? But, this isn’t the purpose of my post either. I really wanted to talk about subtle racism that is used by the right to attempt to poison the unwashed masses against a particular candidate, in this case Barack Obama.

Now, its one thing to get roasted on your record, as Sarah Palin has recently been feeling the heat since the report on Troopergate has been made public ( we will have a story about that topic later) but its another thing to get roasted solely because of your name ( something that our friend Jason knows all too well) The connotation that they attempt to raise is this one…

No, but we will let others do our dirty work

Sarah: Can we run this? McCain: No, but we will let others do our dirty work

They really wish that they could make this argument to tap into the racism and the fear from 9-1-1

Hopefully, its too late, but who really knows…
