If you haven’t watched a College Baseball World Series you’re missing out. The CWS has everything that people complain MLB doesn’t. Its unpredictable, fast paced, and mistake prone. All this adds to great sports TV.  Given that these are kids not pros and most are not even on scholarship creates a frenzy of excitement that not many sports match. Yesterday (June 6) marked the beginning of the Super Regionals. These are the schools competing for a berth to the CWS held each year in Omaha NE. Its a best of three (3) series where every at bat can make a difference. Most games are high scoring close affairs with many errors and come down to the final pitch. You never know what is gonna happen next. Pitchers don’t throw as hard and batters use aluminum instead of wood. The pitcher could hang a breaking ball that the batter takes over the fence to win the game. Or center fielder may drop a routine fly to allow a run. Or the second baseman may just miss a tag. Either way anything may happen and most times this decides the final outcome. This is what amateur sports is all about. Unpredictability. Give the CWS a chance and I guarantee you will not be disappointed. I just wish the games were closer to me. One year I’ve gotta make it to Omaha to see it live.
